| How
much does a website cost? |
| |
| This
is probably the most important question you have. Website design
costs are a bit difficult to understand because you're dealing
strictly with labor versus a tangible product. The number of
hours spent designing and building the website determines your
cost. The longer it takes, the more it costs. However, we'll
try and give you an idea of what you might expect.1 |

A one page website
with two pictures along with a couple of paragraphs of text
might run you about $300. Now, while that may sound like a
lot, something to keep in mind is the first page of your site
is your one and only chance to capture your audience's attention.
If you only have one page, you've got to keep them there long
enough to get your point across. That's why a large portion
of our time is spent on the main page.
If you want more
than a one page site, additional pages will run about $150
per page. If you want to make the site more complex, the cost
goes up because it takes longer to create those complex features.
A seven page site with a lot of pictures and navigation buttons
that change when your mouse moves over them may cost between
$1200 and $1500.

| As
you can see, you can spend as much or as little as you want
on a website. Now, you do have the option of buying a software
program and designing your own site. But, if you're not a web
developer, this may be more of a headache than it's worth. There
are even some websites out there that include a free "site builder"
if you'll buy their web hosting service. However, this tool
is really geared towards building a personal website. It may
not promote the professional image you desire. Once again, you
only get one chance to make a first impression. As old as that
expression is, it's very true. |
|
So,
just how much does it cost to build a website? That depends
on how you answer the following questions:
- What's the purpose of your site?
- Who are you trying to reach with your site?
- How many pages does your site need to get your message
across?
- How much can you afford to spend on this advertisement?
- When do you want it available to the world?
|
| Once
you answer these questions, the rest falls into place. As you
can see, it really is up to you. |

Hopefully this
has given you enough information to move on to the next step.
However, if you still have questions, don't hesitate to call
or email me. I'll be glad to let you pick my brain. Take
a look at some websites we've
developed and maybe they will help you decide what will work
for you.
